Construction Manager , Data Center Construction

About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team keeps the cloud running by supporting data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. As a Data Center Construction Manager you will work with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver safe, secure, high‑capacity data centers at the lowest possible cost. You will be Amazon’s owner’s representative on construction sites, driving cost, schedule, and quality while managing vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project close‑out/punch‑list phases.
• Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
• Create construction project scope and requests for proposals.
• Perform financial analysis of construction projects.
• Manage construction projects aimed at increasing data‑center resiliency.
• Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.
• Manage construction documents, including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
• Ensure construction project quality control and record/report key construction metrics.
• Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis of equipment failures.
• Provide leadership within internal and external teams supporting the data center.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of critical data‑center equipment.
• Familiarity with engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Understanding of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
• Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all domains.

Pay

Base salary range: $111,300 – $186,100 USD annually (varies by location).
