About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team keeps the cloud running by supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access for customers. As a Data Center Construction Manager you will work alongside software, hardware, and network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will be Amazon’s owner’s representative on construction sites, responsible for driving cost, schedule, and quality while managing construction vendors and contractors building data centers. The role involves collaborating with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams to deliver safe, secure, and cost‑effective data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Direct interface with construction general contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project close‑out/punch‑list phases.
  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
  • Create construction project scope and requests for proposals.
  • Perform financial analysis of construction.
  • Manage construction projects for specific initiatives aimed at increasing the resiliency of our data centers.
  • Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.
  • Manage construction documents including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
  • Ensure construction project quality control.
  • Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
  • Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis associated with equipment failures.
  • Provide leadership within the group and across internal and external teams that support the data center.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of critical data center equipment.
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
  • Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.

Pay

Base salary range: $111,300 – $186,100 USD annually. Compensation includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
