Construction Manager (Contract) Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft. Summary We are seeking a highly experienced construction management professional to lead and coordinate complex infrastructure projects in Columbus, OH. This is an onsite, full-time contract role offering up to 18 months of engagement at a competitive hourly rate. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in heavy civil and horizontal construction, demonstrates strong independent judgment, and possesses the leadership acumen to align diverse project stakeholders — including general contractors, safety personnel, environmental teams, and engineers — toward unified project goals. This role demands a proactive, field-present leader who can independently observe contractor behavior, identify priorities, and drive the full project team forward with clarity and purpose. Job Responsibilities Independently observe contractor behavior in the field and identify leadership priorities to keep the project on trackCoordinate and align the full project team including the general contractor, safety, environmental, engineers, and other stakeholdersPlan, direct, and coordinate construction activities by developing detailed plans to accomplish project goals and integrating technical activitiesPresent and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients and project leadershipAnalyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess project feasibilityConfer with management, production, and other staff to discuss project specifications and proceduresReview, recommend, and approve contracts and cost estimatesMonitor and manage project cost and schedule to ensure milestones and budgets are metReview and interpret construction drawings to ensure work is executed in accordance with design intentOversee earthworks activities and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards Requirements 10–20 years of progressive responsibility in construction management requiredMinimum 5 years of focused experience in horizontal and heavy civil constructionMinimum 5 years of experience in critical infrastructure projects5+ years of hands-on earthworks experience10+ years of experience reviewing and interpreting construction drawings10+ years of experience managing project cost and scheduleBachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or a related field requiredCCM, PMI, or PMP certification preferredMust be able to meet all onsite PPE requirements including Class 2 safety helmet, reflective vest and jacket, ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses, cut and impact resistant gloves, and composite toe work boots extending a minimum of 4 inches above the ankleStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearlyExceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal effectivenessAbility to work independently, manage time efficiently, and exercise sound judgment in the field360-degree leadership skills with the ability to influence and align a broad spectrum of workers and stakeholdersDeep knowledge of construction management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methodsKnowledge of quality control, cost management, and techniques for maximizing project efficiencyProficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, and Bluebeam; P6 experience strongly preferred Additional Details Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite)Duration: 5 monthsPay Range*: $86.50 - $98 per hourWeekly Schedule: 40 hoursJob Status: Non-ExemptApplication Deadline: Apply within 72 hours of the posting date to ensure consideration.
