Construction Manager
Responsibilities
- Creates and influences safety culture as a mentor and model. Participates in district safety committee and influences corporate safety policy and procedures.
- Provides overall leadership and support for several small projects or one very large project with high complexity. Accountable for safety, budget, quality, schedule, and profitability performance.
- Oversees projects to ensure construction is as per design, budget, and schedule.
- Led to secure new work by participating as part of core pursuit/preconstruction team to contribute to estimate, proposal, and/or presentation.
- Makes sure design deliverables are on schedule to facilitate and/or assist with permits, procurement, shop drawings, off-site production, construction and commissioning in conjunction with the review and signoff by the client.
- Attends design management meetings, led by the prime consultant, communicating PCL’s needs and requirements, and escalates issues of concern for resolution.
- Supervises, directs, trains, and mentors project team, including direct and indirect reports on the same or multiple sites.
- Manages complex project organizational structure.
- Oversees and negotiates claims/disputes with owner and trade contractors with senior project manager and project managers.
- Understands, communicates, and proactively manages contract and documents.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or related discipline.
- 15+ years of progressive construction experience with multiple contract delivery types as a leader and mentor preferred.
- 12- 24 months of estimating or related experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge and application of safety and environment principles/procedures/legislation.
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, and safety and quality management practices for large, complex, and more diverse projects.
- Experience with diverse project types, delivery and construction methods, and sequencing and timelines.
- Expert knowledge of and ability to apply project construction laws and building codes and to leverage such knowledge.
- Expert knowledge of collective agreements and jurisdiction assignment for multitrade sites.
- Thorough understanding of insurance, bonding, and legal requirements.
- Demonstrated experience leading effective project meetings with customer, consultants, and internal employees; experience presenting at client meetings or for project pursuit.
- Ability to generate, review, and administer complex subcontracts and purchase orders, ensuring that all risks are mitigated and opportunities are identified.
Pay
The salary range for this position is between $172,000 and $220,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
