About the role
7-Eleven, Inc. is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee all aspects of multiple construction projects from inception to completion. The role is remote and includes upwards of 50% travel regionally, with the potential of traveling to all North American locations based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Review project updates and progress reports, ensuring Key Performance Indicators like safety, quality, cost, and schedule are on track.
- Engage with stakeholders including internal Sr Leaders and Operations, contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and regulatory bodies, providing clear and concise updates while facilitating effective decision-making.
- Direct general contractors, engineers, architects, and vendors to complete construction projects while satisfying contract requirements.
- Cooperate with 7-Eleven’s Environmental consultant to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Audit project performance through Key Performance Indicators for safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Create project plans, including project charters, schedules, responsibility matrices, risk management plans, communication management plans, and stakeholder registers.
- Facilitate site surveys, due diligence of conditions, and prepare scope of work.
- Develop financial accountability, including estimates, budget development, change orders, invoice reviews, and project closeouts.
- Spearhead design reviews ensuring accuracy against defined scopes and specifications for approvals.
- Lead permitting processes and assist in negotiations with regulatory bodies and AHJs as required.
- Manage the bid process and make recommendations regarding contractor selection.
- Provide field oversight and direction during the execution phase from preconstruction through issue of final required inspections and occupancy.
- Develop site-specific, accurate equipment take-offs and orders for each project.
- Ensure regular reporting including percent of completion, estimated date of turnover to operations, actual costs, and cost forecasts.
- Ensure vendors deliver work to meet duration and quality targets, addressing and correcting under-performance issues.
- Ensure timely completion of all project deficiencies.
- Cultivate a culture of safety in accordance with department guidelines.
- Hand over projects to stakeholders after successful completion of commissioning protocols.
Requirements
- Operational experience in c-store, fueling, or quick service restaurant.
- Understanding of accessibility and life safety laws and how they apply.
- Expertise in installing and maintaining retail (UST) fueling systems.
- Working knowledge of refrigeration equipment, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Additional certifications or education applicable to this role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Alternatively, High School diploma/GED with equivalent experience or 4+ years of US military experience.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with project management software.
- Knowledge of construction industry standards and regulations.
