Construction Layout Coordinator

Key Responsibilities

• Train for Trimble equipment and layout workflows
• Onboard new users and support ongoing development of field teams
• Maintain hands-on field training as needed
• Create and operate simple, repeatable training materials
• Develop and operate Leica laser scanning hardware and field data collection apps
• Cover layout resources across projects with Adam Elsasser
• Plan layout needs with field leadership
• Balance staffing and equipment to project demands
• Support critical or complex layout tasks
• Identify and address recurring field issues
• Improve consistency to reduce errors and rework
• Execute and manage 3D laser scanning operations for existing conditions documentation and as-built verification
• Support VDC / BIM coordination (provided by Horton’s Office Team)
• Ensure models and layout data are field-ready
• Validate layout points before deployment
• Coordinate the transfer and preliminary registration of Leica point cloud data to the VDC team for model alignment and QA/QC
• Manage Trimble and Leica equipment
• Track, coordinate calibration, maintenance, and updates
• Aid in evaluating new tools and technology

Project Coordination

• Coordinate layout resources across projects with Adam Elsasser
• Plan layout needs with field leadership
• Balance workload to avoid delays

Field Support & Troubleshooting

• Primary contact for layout, laser scanning, technological, and other issues
• Troubleshoot equipment, data, and workflow problems
• Provide remote and onsite support as needed

Standardization

• Establish and maintain consistent layout workflows
• Define procedures for setup, control, and data management

Layout Oversight & Quality Control

• Support critical or complex layout tasks
• Identify and address recurring field issues
• Coordinate the transfer and preliminary registration of Leica point cloud data to the VDC team for model alignment and QA/QC

Equipment Management

• Track and manage Trimble and Leica equipment
• Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and updates
• Aid in evaluating new tools and technology

Reporting Structure

• This position will report to Bryan Horton and communicate with Adam Elsaser.

Summary

Assigning a dedicated Trimble / Field Layout Lead will improve consistency, strengthen coordination between VDC and field teams, and maximize the value of our current technology across all projects.
