Construction/Facilities Project Manager

About the role

This full-time salaried Project Manager role focuses on planning, directing, and coordinating construction and facilities projects across industrial, manufacturing, and distribution environments. You will manage projects from concept through completion, including new construction, tenant fit-outs, asset replacements, and site and property maintenance work. The position offers a primarily remote work model while requiring regular travel to client facilities, where you will supervise contractors, ensure safety compliance, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate construction, facilities, engineering, research and development, financial systems, and product rollouts.
• Coordinate projects by creating detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical and construction activities.
• Lead full project lifecycles, managing work from concept and estimating through execution, closeout, and handover.
• Follow documented processes for estimating, planning, and managing project work, completing all required administrative tasks personally.
• Prepare pre-construction estimates and review bids to support funding decisions and ensure competitive, accurate pricing.
• Solicit pricing from subcontractors and prepare clear, detailed proposals for client review and approval.
• Read, interpret, and apply construction drawings and specifications to guide project planning and execution.
• Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project and other planning tools, adjusting plans as needed to meet client production schedules.
• Present and explain project proposals, reports, and findings to clients and internal leadership in a clear and professional manner.
• Confer with internal teams and customers to discuss project specifications, procedures, constraints, and expectations.
• Review, recommend, and/or approve contracts and cost estimates in line with project scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
• Provide daily updates on work in progress, ensuring stakeholders remain informed about status, risks, and changes.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, clearly explaining project plans, schedules, and performance expectations.
• Supervise and manage subcontractor work onsite at client facilities, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
• Use formal authority to protect client property and ensure the quality of subcontractor work as project scope is executed.
• Act as the designated safety representative for project execution (leveraging OSHA 30 training), applying company and client safety standards.
• Follow documented safety procedures and enforce safe work practices, ensuring a safe and well-managed project site at all times.
• Conduct and participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reviews with subcontractors, safety personnel, and project teams.
• Exercise “Stop Work” authority when unsafe conditions or practices are identified, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Utilize company and client software tools, including Autodesk Build / Autodesk Construction Cloud and client-specific applications, for daily reporting, JSA documentation, punch lists, and project tracking.
• Use mobile devices such as phones and tablets for onsite project work, communication, and documentation.
• Prepare and maintain project reports, documentation, and organized filing of all project-related records.
• Maintain regular communication with site stakeholders and the internal project leadership team, escalating issues as appropriate.
• Present each project plan to peers for review prior to implementation, incorporating feedback to improve execution.
• Complete all project closeout activities, including collecting and submitting closeout documentation, invoices, as-built drawings, warranties, and asset information.
• Manage contractor and vendor performance, particularly in industrial and manufacturing environments, to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and schedule expectations.
• Apply construction and manufacturing safety principles, including LOTO, COHE, confined space, roof access, hot work, fire watch, impairment reporting, and Method of Procedure (MOP) implementation.
• Participate in and complete proprietary safety program orientations and classes as required.
• Work independently, managing your own time and priorities, while maintaining strong communication with distributed teams.
• Travel to client locations as needed, primarily within the Midwest region and occasionally to other regions, to provide onsite supervision and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in project management, construction management, or facilities project management, preferably in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Proven experience managing construction and facilities projects, including new construction, tenant fit-outs, asset replacements, and site or property maintenance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear daily updates and present project plans, proposals, and findings.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage one’s time effectively, and take full ownership of assigned projects.
• Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with clients, site representatives, maintenance technicians, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience with pre-construction estimating and bid review processes.
• Proficiency in project planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project.
• General mastery of computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, Teams, and SmartSheet.
• Experience using Bluebeam or Adobe PDF tools for reviewing drawings and documents.
• Comfort with using mobile devices (phones and tablets) for project work, communication, and documentation.
• Training or prior certification in OSHA 30 (preferred and used for designated safety responsibilities).
• Focused understanding of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and the ability to identify potential hazards in assigned projects.
• Knowledge of construction and manufacturing safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Control of Hazardous Energy (COHE), confined space entry, roof access safety, hot work, fire watch, impairment reporting and tagging, and implementing Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
• Skills in project supervision, including exercising “Stop Work” authority when necessary.
• Skills in project management, including preparation of reports and systematic document collection and filing.
• Knowledge of business and management principles related to strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Experience managing contractors and vendors, particularly in industrial, manufacturing, or construction settings.
• Construction oversight and site supervision experience in active facilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Facility Management, or a related field.
• PMI or PMP certification preferred (or equivalent project management certification).

Additional Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred and used to grant safety-related authority on projects.
• Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, including manufacturing plant settings.
• Facilities maintenance background or experience working in operational facilities.
• Experience managing capital improvement projects.
• Engineering or architecture education or training beyond the minimum degree requirement.
• Experience with Autodesk Build and Autodesk Construction Cloud for daily reporting, JSA documentation, and punch list management.
• Experience using client-specific applications such as TERA (training provided).
• Experience with contractor safety management in construction or manufacturing environments.
• Manufacturing safety experience, including implementing and monitoring safety programs.
• Midwest location near a major airport, enabling efficient travel to regional project sites.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time to client facilities.
• Comfort working in a remote-first environment while maintaining strong onsite presence when needed.
• PMP or equivalent professional project management certification (preferred, not required).

Work Environment

This role follows a primarily remote work model, allowing you to perform most planning, coordination, and administrative tasks from a home office while regularly traveling to client facilities for onsite supervision and stakeholder engagement. The position is full-time and salaried, based on a standard schedule of five 8-hour days per week. Office-related work occurs primarily during daytime hours; however, project supervision may take place on any day of the week and at any time, depending on client production schedules and project needs. Work hours are flexible so you can align with project start and stop times and support client operations effectively.

You will frequently work in industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution environments, including active facilities where construction, maintenance, and capital improvement projects are underway. Onsite work involves supervising contractors, overseeing construction activities, and enforcing safety standards in operational settings. You will use mobile devices such as phones and tablets, as well as software tools including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, Teams), SmartSheet, Bluebeam or Adobe PDF tools, Autodesk Build, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and client-specific applications such as TERA.

Travel is primarily focused on the Midwest region, with potential assignments in locations such as Kansas City, Aurora, and Princeton, and may occasionally extend to other regions including West, South, and East Coast areas. You may travel by air or by personal vehicle or rental car to project sites within a reasonable driving range. Location assignment is tied to an office in one of the regional hubs, but day-to-day work remains largely remote. The environment emphasizes strong safety culture, structured safety procedures, and comprehensive safety training, with dedicated time for orientations, safety classes, and ongoing compliance. Dress and personal protective equipment expectations align with professional office standards for remote and office-based work, and with appropriate safety and site attire when visiting facilities, such as wearing required PPE and adhering to site-specific safety guidelines.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
