About the Role

The Expeditor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the construction site, either directly or by coordinating day laborers and subcontractors to remove waste materials. The role includes delivering equipment and materials to sites, assisting with unloading trucks, and completing punch lists from owners and architects. Expeditors must safely operate tools and equipment to perform their duties.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehend and prioritize daily tasks assigned by the Construction Manager.
  • Maintain good working relationships with subcontractors and fellow employees.
  • Organize product and material receiving.
  • Manage subcontractors and employees to complete punch lists.
  • Participate in demolitions.
  • Assist in servicing equipment and tools.
  • Help implement OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Keep construction sites clean, both inside and out.

Requirements

  • Experience in construction is preferred.
  • Ability to read SAE and metric tape measures.
  • Comfortably and safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and standards.
  • Computer literate.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to multi-task projects.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups or individuals.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma; construction experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction documents and contracts.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Heavy lifting is required at times.

Working Conditions

The job is performed outdoors and indoors on construction sites, with occasional time spent in an office setting. Must conform to all safety requirements when operating motor vehicles or performing duties in the field.
