Construction Coordinator (Daytona)

About the role

The Construction Coordinator supports the new construction service line by participating in the Customer Journey Process, updating the WAM system, and reviewing on-site conditions to coordinate installation. Provides technical and professional assistance to team members, customers, contractors, municipal inspectors, and plumbers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and reviews the installation of both residential and commercial gas services by working with intercompany personnel, builders, contractors, dealers, and customers.
  • Attends weekly contractor meetings.
  • Educates contractors on the installation of gas piping and compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • Meets with developers on site to coordinate the gas main installation for new subdivisions and monitors the process of in-house contractors.
  • Meets with residential customers on complex meter relocations, works with contractors, plumbers, and builders to resolve any unforeseen obstacles during the gas installation process.
  • Develops isometric drawings and piping estimates for meter relocate planning for residential and commercial customers.
  • Works closely with TECO Partners to provide technical assistance on their new service leads.
  • Maintains the highest levels of customer satisfaction through serving as the main point of contact for customers, builders, plumbers, and contractors.
  • Reviews and resolves customer complaints.
  • Creates SESs (Service Entry Sheets), uploads as-builts to GIS (Geographic Information System), and updates WAM site as needed.
  • Reviews CartoPac work assignment for completeness and accuracy and releases data.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years of natural gas utility or similar utility construction experience that consists of coordinating construction projects and/or construction coordination services.
  • Experience must consist of complex work assignments such as project management and/or construction coordination services.
  • Knowledge of construction services, distribution and/or transmission gas systems regarding pipe design, standards, and requirements for gas services.
  • Meter sizing and EFV (Excess Flow Valve) knowledge.
  • Knowledge of mapping systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and construction as-built documents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to direct or lead projects.
  • Must be able to respond to gas emergencies and/or business needs within divisional guidelines and work outdoors for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends to attend industry/trade shows and/or handle gas emergencies.

Skills

Knowledge of all applicable gas codes and safety regulations will give you a competitive edge.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to independently drive a motor vehicle for approximately four (4) hours in an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to independently enter and/or exit a motor vehicle approximately 25 times in an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and/or crouch approximately thirty (30) times in an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to walk approximately two (2) miles in an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to stand at least four (4) hours in an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to endure 90+ degree heat for five (5) hours in a day during summer months.
  • Must be able to concentrate on details for an entire eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to smell gas odorant in normal concentrations.

Schedule

8-hour shifts, 5 days a week.

Incident Response Assignment

As a team member, you will be assigned an Incident Response role and may be required to respond swiftly to various incidents, including major storm events, gas leaks, equipment failures, and other emergencies. You will receive training related to your role and may participate in mock drills or exercises simulating emergency scenarios.
