Confidential opportunity at a nationally recognized Am Law 100 law firm seeking an Associate Attorney with 3+ years of construction and infrastructure litigation experience to join its growing Houston office.

About the role

This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful responsibility early in their career while working alongside respected partners on sophisticated, high-profile construction disputes across the country. The successful candidate will have direct client interaction, courtroom experience, and strong mentorship within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Represent owners, contractors, subcontractors, developers, engineers, and other industry participants in complex construction and infrastructure disputes.
  • Handle matters involving:
    • Mechanics' and materialmen's liens
    • Payment disputes
    • Delay and disruption claims
    • Defective design and construction claims
    • Contract interpretation and enforcement
  • Prepare, file, and enforce mechanics' and materialmen's liens while advising clients regarding lien rights and related remedies.
  • Independently manage core litigation responsibilities, including:
    • Drafting pleadings and dispositive motions
    • Legal research and analysis
    • Written discovery and document review
    • Motion practice
    • Taking and defending depositions
    • Preparing witnesses
    • Assisting with trial strategy and trial preparation
  • Work closely with experienced partners on complex litigation involving major commercial and infrastructure projects nationwide.
  • Build client relationships through regular interaction and active participation in case strategy.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas.
  • 3+ years of litigation experience, with significant exposure to construction law and construction-related disputes.
  • Experience handling mechanics' and materialmen's liens and construction contract disputes is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience managing litigation matters with increasing levels of independence.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced practice.
  • Federal judicial clerkship experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and client service.
