About the role

The Wooten Company’s Greenville, NC office is seeking a Project Engineer Construction Administrator who will work closely with the Construction Services Lead. This position is an engineering role providing the opportunity to be an essential part of the growth of our Construction Services Division.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage all activities related to project construction contracts including contractor coordination, shop drawings review, field observation, status report preparation, pay request and change order review.
  • Work with field personnel to ensure proper observation of construction.
  • Review shop drawings, manuals, warranties, and other project and post-construction submittals for approval and dispositions.
  • Conduct periodic on-site observations and prepare status reports, conduct meetings, and make timely document interpretations.
  • Review Contractor payment requests and contract change order information for recommendations to Owner.
  • Conduct and participate in pre-construction conferences and construction progress meetings.
  • Provide biddability / constructability review (quality control review) during final design stages.
  • Accumulate, evaluate and present feedback information to engineering associates related to errors and omissions in construction documents and the performance of equipment / materials and system.

Who will you be working with?

  • Work closely with owners, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop knowledge and experience in the areas of engineering, water, and wastewater treatment facility design and construction.
  • Collaborate across all teams and specialties, providing opportunities to interact with The Wooten Company colleagues in both North and South Carolina.
  • Regularly work with local government and private clients, as well as local and state agencies.

Where will you be working?

Our Greenville office is located in the Uptown Greenville area, just south of the Tar River, nestled amongst many restaurants and breweries, and just around the corner from East Carolina University’s Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Within a quick 30-minute drive to the town of Washington, just under an hour to New Bern, or a couple of hours to Emerald Isle and Wilmington, beach lovers can explore lovely coastal vistas on an easy weekend trip. The healthcare community is one of the largest in North Carolina, and many newly renovated restaurants and nightclubs alongside the bustling arts and entertainment hub in Uptown Greenville, as well as a plethora of outdoor recreational opportunities in the local parks and along the Tar River, allow residents a wide variety of options for everyone to enjoy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or similar Construction Engineering Degree / Focus from an accredited four-year college or university. (Preferred)
  • NC Licensed Professional Engineer (or if licensed outside NC, ability to obtain NC license within one year). (Preferred).
  • 3 - 6 years’ experience in the field of engineering and / or construction.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and resolve any construction issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to work well with clients and represent The Wooten Company core values.
  • Communicates easily with Federal and State regulatory personnel; familiar with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Possesses skills in negotiation and consensus building.
  • Possesses ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
