About the role
McMillan Pazdan Smith is an award-winning architecture, interior design, and advisory services firm with eleven studios located in the southeast. We are currently seeking a Construction Administrator to join our team in Columbia, SC.
Responsibilities
- Aid the project teams with construction administration activities.
- Read, interpret, and understand plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
- Communicate with project architects, other Construction Administrators (CAs), and consultants to resolve project issues.
- Participate in mandatory monthly CA meetings and other design studio meetings.
- Perform quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with pre-construction specification and drawing quality control and constructability reviews.
- Monitor project for compliance with construction documents and client standards.
- Issue document revisions prepared by designers and prepare field observation reports.
- Attend Owner/Architect/Construction (OAC) meetings and record accurate meeting minutes.
- Facilitate the completion of project closeout documents and investigations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s / associate degree in construction science and/or management, architecture, engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years combined experience in construction administration and/or architecture.
- Previous experience in an architecture, engineering, or construction industry firm.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and understand plan documents.
- Understanding of building technology fundamentals.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
- Exposure to hazardous working conditions in conjunction with construction site visits.
- No exposure to hazardous working conditions in the office work environment.
