About us
We are seeking a hands-on Conformal Coating Supervisor to lead coating operations within an electronics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing coating processes, ensuring product protection and reliability, and driving production efficiency while maintaining strict quality and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of conformal coating processes for PCB assemblies
- Lead and develop a team of coating operators and technicians, ensuring proper training and adherence to procedures
- Oversee application methods including spray, selective coating, dip, and manual brush techniques
- Ensure proper masking, curing, and inspection processes are followed
- Monitor and improve key production and quality metrics (yield, rework, throughput, defects)
- Troubleshoot coating defects such as bubbling, delamination, insufficient coverage, and contamination
- Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Ensure compliance with IPC standards (IPC-CC-830, IPC-A-610) and internal quality requirements
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by validating coating processes and creating work instructions
- Maintain equipment and coordinate with maintenance/vendors on repairs and calibration
- Enforce ESD, safety, and chemical handling protocols (MSDS compliance)
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing (PCBA/SMT environment)
- 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of conformal coating materials (acrylic, silicone, urethane, epoxy, parylene is a plus)
- Experience with coating equipment (selective coating machines, spray systems, curing ovens)
- Familiarity with inspection methods (UV light inspection, thickness measurement)
- Understanding of IPC standards and electronics quality requirements
- Ability to read work instructions, process documentation, and assembly drawings
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in regulated environments (medical device, aerospace, defense)
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems
- Certification or training related to coating or electronics assembly
