About the Role
This sub-job covers the initial critical phases of preparing the lightweight concrete substrate for subsequent polishing. It includes a thorough assessment, meticulous repair of imperfections, and application of a high-quality self-leveling underlayment to achieve a perfectly flat and smooth base.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site comprehensive assessment of 3,600 sq ft lightweight concrete for cracks, spalling, surface irregularities, and existing repairs.
- Thoroughly clean and prepare surfaces for repair and underlayment.
- Perform expert patching using high-strength, compatible repair materials designed for lightweight concrete.
- Execute initial grinding or scarification as necessary to ensure optimal self-leveling underlayment (SLU) adhesion.
- Apply appropriate primers to the prepared surface.
- Apply high-quality, commercial-grade, low-VOC self-leveling underlayment (SLU) or skim coat layers across the entire 3,600 sq ft to meet stringent flatness tolerances (e.g., FF50/FL30).
- Perform light grinding or sanding of cured SLU if required for perfect polish preparation.
- Maintain strict dust containment measures during all preparation and application activities.
- Procure materials compatible with lightweight concrete and low-VOC requirements.
Excluded Tasks
- Finish grinding, densifying, polishing, or sealing.
- Treatment of control or expansion joints.
- Specialized cleaning beyond basic dust and debris removal from this phase.
- Structural repairs extending beyond surface imperfections.
