Concrete Grinding, Polishing, Densification, and Sealing

About the Role

This position involves the specialized work of mechanically grinding, polishing, densifying, and sealing prepared concrete floors to achieve desired aesthetic and performance characteristics, ranging from matte to high-gloss finishes.

Responsibilities

• Initial coarse mechanical grinding of fully cured and prepared/leveled concrete surfaces (post-SLU application).
• Progressive mechanical grinding through a series of increasingly finer grits to achieve specified aggregate exposure and surface sheen.
• Application of a chemical densifier (e.g., lithium or sodium silicate) to harden the concrete and improve abrasion resistance.
• Further fine grinding and polishing passes.
• Application of a high-performance, clear concrete sealer or coating (e.g., penetrating sealer, clear epoxy, or urethane topcoat) for stain resistance, easy maintenance, and desired sheen.
• Treatment and filling of all existing control and expansion joints with appropriate flexible fillers.
• Strict dust containment, waste collection, and disposal specific to polishing operations.
• Use of commercial-grade, low-VOC materials.
• Material procurement.

Excluded Tasks

• Substrate assessment, patching, or initial grinding for repair.
• Application of self-leveling underlayment.
• General site cleanup not directly related to polishing dust/debris.
• Non-surface structural repairs.
