Responsibilities
- Ensure JCC workers comply with safety requirements.
- Train JCC workers in safety methods and procedures.
- Maintain work areas clear of hazards and debris.
- Maintain equipment and tools to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Perform daily inspections of equipment and coordinate with the General Foreman and Warehouse.
- Become aware of the general flow and pace of work as planned by the Concrete Project Manager/General Foreman.
- Study plans and specifications to understand your work assignment.
- Plan manpower, materials, equipment, and tools needed for your work task.
- Communicate plans and needs with the General Foreman, Concrete Project Manager, and relevant departments.
- Monitor and update your work plan weekly and adjust as necessary.
- Communicate plans clearly and regularly with your crews.
- Motivate crews to achieve top performance.
- Ensure quality work is a top priority.
- Plan ahead, communicate ahead, and order ahead to avoid delays.
- Schedule work timely and efficiently to meet schedule and productivity expectations.
- Leave work areas well-organized and contribute to the efficiency of others.
- Instruct and train workforce in proper, efficient, safe methods of construction.
- Communicate expectations and provide regular, appropriate constructive feedback.
- Administer discipline in an appropriate manner and setting.
- Delegate responsibilities to Lead Carpenters when practical.
- Seek input and ideas for improvement from crew members.
- Support and promote Jacobsen's philosophy and human resource policies.
- Respond to and resolve conflicts quickly and fairly.
- Treat others as you would like to be treated.
- Complete timecards accurately and timely.
- Contribute information for an accurate and timely daily report.
- Report work quantities in place daily.
Requirements
- Demonstrate basic construction concepts and methods.
- Show high-level abilities in carpentry activities.
- Understand schedules and scheduling methods.
- Show good mathematical ability.
- Show good verbal and written communication skills.
- Show organizational and supervisory skills.
- Maintain self-motivation.
- Show thorough knowledge of reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
- Show ability to train and motivate craft workers.
- Show understanding of Jacobsen's safety policy and OSHA rules.
- Show commitment to project safety.
- Show problem identification and problem-solving skills.
- Show ability to set goals and objectives and obtain results.
- Show ability to draw detail sketches (including formwork details).

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of previous experience as a Carpenter Foreman with another employer OR minimum 6 months experience as a Lead Carpenter with Jacobsen Construction.
