Job Summary
Levy at American Airlines Center is seeking a passionate, skilled, and detail-oriented event-based part-time Line Cook to join our Culinary team. This position supports our concessions kitchens, where culinary excellence, consistency, and exceptional guest service are at the heart of every event.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality food items in accordance with standardized recipes, production schedules, and presentation standards.
- Execute a variety of cooking techniques, including grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, baking, and finishing dishes to specification.
- Ensure all menu items are prepared with consistency, proper portioning, and exceptional presentation while maintaining quality and flavor standards.
- Taste and evaluate prepared food to ensure quality, seasoning, and consistency before service.
- Prepare meals for service or delivery while maintaining proper food temperatures and adhering to HACCP and food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift, following all local, state, federal, and company health regulations.
- Safely operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting any maintenance concerns or equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Work collaboratively with chefs, supervisors, and fellow culinary team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and exceptional guest experiences.
- Maintain professionalism and positive working relationships with team members, managers, and internal customers.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to workplace safety while helping maintain a safe environment for fellow team members.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of culinary experience in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, catering operation, stadium, arena, or entertainment venue.
- Previous experience in premium dining, banquet, or upscale hospitality environments is preferred.
- Valid ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or the ability to obtain within the required timeframe).
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, knife skills, cooking methods, and food safety standards.
- Understanding of HACCP principles, proper food handling, sanitation, and temperature control.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to culinary excellence.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to remain composed and productive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedules.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout scheduled shifts.
- Frequently bend, reach, kneel, stoop, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to work safely in hot kitchen environments while maintaining productivity during high-volume service periods.
