About the role

The Compliance Trainer I reports to the Training Superintendent and is responsible for delivering and documenting mandatory health, safety, and regulatory training at the Copper World project. The role involves promoting a strong safety culture, leading by example, and participating in various safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers and facilitates New Miner Training, Annual Refresher Training, New Hire Orientation, and site-specific hazard awareness programs to employees and contractors.
  • Delivers technical training such as LOTOTO (Hazardous Energy Isolation), Working From Heights, Confined Space etc.
  • Documents all competency assessment information and ensures standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance.
  • Maintains rigorous and accurate records of compliance training events for MSHA auditing purposes.
  • Participates in safety initiatives, toolbox meetings, hazard identification, and incident investigations.
  • Provides regular updates and feedback to the Training Superintendent on compliance metrics and logistical issues.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and five years of related mine operational experience.
  • Current MSHA Approved Instructor Certification (IS) / Blue Card.
  • Experience in delivering training packages, utilizing adult learning theories/styles appropriate to the workforce.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Ability to work & multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and meet all other requirements of the job.
  • The ability to work in different environmental conditions.
  • Positive work ethic.
  • Maintain a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.

Qualifications

  • Current MSHA certification.
  • Learning Management System experience.
  • An Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, or a related field (preferred).

Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, manage and grow the team.
  • Reliable personal transportation to the site location.
  • Ability to travel for additional training, certifications, and or conferences.
