Description Of Job

Division of Gaming: Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements.

We process license applications and collect fees. We conduct background investigations of applicants. We investigate criminal and administrative violations, and we conduct compliance inspections. We also provide educational services to licensees and the public.

What We Do

• Conducts comprehensive compliance inspections to ensure licensees, patrons, premises, records, and devices comply with Colorado Gaming Statutes, Rules, and Internal Controls and Minimum Procedures.
• Investigates all discovered and reported violations of Colorado Gaming Statutes, Rules, and Internal Controls and Minimum Procedures.
• Completes clear and factual reports and database entries to document inspections and track violations.
• Initiates appropriate disciplinary action for violations and presents recommendations to the Colorado Gaming Control Commission.
• Fills out and implements enforcement actions for gaming violations.
• Testifies in court and to the Colorado Gaming Commission regarding violations of Colorado Gaming Statutes, Rules, and Internal Controls and Minimum Procedures.
• Licensing/Administrative Support:
• Disseminates information and responds to licensing inquiries and requests from the public, licensees, license applicants, Division staff, and others.
• Answers phones, transfers inquiries, processes applications, receives payments, maintains records, and handles customer service.
• Performs front counter functions such as checking in applicants, receiving payments, answering questions, tracking correspondence, and referring licensees and the public to the Division’s website.

Primary Duties

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Experience Only: Five (5) years of relevant experience in compliance or investigative experience in a regulatory environment. OR Education and Experience: A combination of related education in business administration, public administration, criminology, criminal justice, criminalistics, political science, police science, law enforcement, law, economics, accounting, finance, psychology, sociology and/or relevant experience in compliance or investigative experience in a regulatory environment equal to five (5) years.

Special Qualifications

• Experience interpreting and applying statutes and regulations.
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry that prioritizes public safety.
• More than the required minimum experience in professional investigative and/or compliance experience in a regulatory environment.
• Experience in public sector or interacting with government organizations.
• Recent experience with: investigations involving public safety and researching databases.
• Proficiency in Google Suite.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Conditions Of Employment

• Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
• Any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.
• To Be Compliant With The New Fleet Vehicle Policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) Will Be Pulled For Review For Workers Who Have an assigned State fleet vehicle.
• Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position.
• Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle.
