About the role
The Air Force Civilian Service is seeking a Full-Time Compliance Accountant (GG-0510-13) to work at the Air Force Sensitive Activities Office on Joint Base San Antonio, Lackland, TX. This role involves auditing integrated financial systems, overseeing complex disbursing, and leading quality assurance reviews (GAAP, FIAR, JTR, DoD FMR).
Responsibilities
- Audit integrated financial systems
- Oversight of complex disbursing
- Lead quality assurance reviews (GAAP, FIAR, JTR, DoD FMR)
- Expertise in military/travel pay audits, MICP internal controls, and troubleshooting mission-unique accounting systems
Requirements
- Must have a degree in accounting/related field with 24 credits in accounting
- A desire for a Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor obtained through written examination
- Must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
- Must be able to pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing
- Must be able to pass a counterintelligence scope polygraph
Qualifications
- Knowledge of professional principles, theories, techniques, and practices as pertains to GAAP, Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, FIAR, and the laws and regulations governing accounting procedures
- Knowledge of USAF financial management principles, theories, procedures and applications to administer the serviced activities financial management programs as they relate to Sensitive Activities
- Knowledge of DoD, DFAS, and USAF financial management objectives, auditing, accounting and disbursing missions, responsibilities, interrelationships, processes, programs, operations and appropriate systems to participate in the budget development process
- Knowledge of automated financial management and accounting systems, policies, procedures and practices which are used in accomplishing the activities financial management functions to meet prescribed requirements, develop solutions to problems, identify trends and to develop recommendations for future systems or applications
- Ability to plan, organize, and negotiate effectively with managers and analysts to assess, prioritize, and implement recommendations, where proposals involve substantial resources, and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; understands and negotiates complex issues, and maintains harmonious working relationships
