About the Role
This is a complex sales position working between the Detroit Metro Airport Marriott and Detroit Metro Airport Sheraton hotels, focusing on the business transient segment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct an aggressive solicitation process involving outside sales calls, inside appointments, telephone calls, email, personalized letters, video sales, and virtual tours (80% of time should be spent in active sales solicitation).
- Provide daily support to Sales Managers with account development, activities, sales calls, site visits, and business evaluation.
- Assist the Director of Sales in creating and updating a realistic, aggressive annual marketing plan on a monthly basis to reflect market conditions.
- Develop a Quarterly Action Plan that aligns with the annual marketing plan and current market conditions, including sales strategies and timelines for market segments.
- Send proposals immediately for all leads that fit the property profile and actively follow through to convert proposals to definite status, outlining room block, suite/upgrade, meeting space requirements, budget, decision-making process, and client hot buttons.
- Obtain, document, and route all necessary information for definite groups, including billing, credit applications, rooming lists, VIP arrangements, meeting details, menus, and audio-visual requirements to the catering manager.
- Forecast group production weekly and provide updates to the Director of Sales for property forecasting; participate in Group Pick-Up meetings as needed.
- Provide feedback to the Group Housing Manager on group changes, including room needs and cut-off dates.
- Achieve all assigned KPIs, including sales solicitation goals, bookings, lead response times, and group pace.
- Participate in weekly revenue calls, presenting your group forecast and discussing the sales pipeline for potential lead conversions to inform transient rate strategy.
- Notify the Director of Sales of any group offers or e-blasts needed for your market segments.
- Submit expense reports weekly to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
- Prepare sales reporting as required by management or ownership.
- Maintain sensitivity to customer satisfaction and guest needs.
- Assist the Director of Sales on special projects as assigned.
