This is a full-time, onsite position supervised by the Manager of HR Operations, serving as the primary back-up to the Talent Acquisition Administrator as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Administer compensation and classification procedures under the direction of the Manager of HR Operations and Chief People and Organizational Strategist.
  • Analyze staff positions and make recommendations regarding job family, job subfamily, career stream, job title, and grade assignment according to Purdue and PFW classification guidelines.
  • Partner with hiring managers and supervisors to develop, review, and revise job descriptions.
  • Provide guidance regarding compensation and classification processes and procedures.
  • Conduct job analysis and compensation reviews and make salary recommendations based on internal equity, market data, and university guidelines.
  • Assist departments in understanding compensation practices and applicable wage and hour regulations.
  • Research and analyze compensation-related data and prepare recommendations for leadership review.
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize market compensation data to support competitive pay practices.
  • Serve as the primary back-up for the Talent Acquisition Administrator when needed.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Employment Services Administrator, serve as an additional back-up to and support Employment Services functions as needed.
  • Participate in cross-training activities to maintain knowledge of assigned backup responsibilities.
  • Perform routine HR tasks and answer employee questions to support key HR programs, including benefits, performance management, employment services, talent acquisition, compensation reviews, payroll, and employee events.
  • Assist with maintaining front desk coverage when needed, ensuring a professional, welcoming experience for all HR office visitors.
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants, candidates, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters to the Manager of HR Operations.
  • Serve as an HR Generalist to provide back-up for other members of the HR Team, as needed.
  • Create and produce departmental reports and assist in the development and revision of reports as requested by the Manager of HR Operations or Associate Vice Chancellor of HR.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, OLS, Business Management, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • Minimum of one to three years of Human Resources experience.
  • Knowledge of compensation and classification principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including FLSA requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze compensation and workforce data.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the institution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HR information systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to supporting the university's mission, vision, and values.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build trust across levels of the institution.
  • Demonstrates honesty and loyalty to the University and supports its mission and values; uses discretion in sharing university information with non-employees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience in compensation, classification, employment, employee relations, HRIS, or related Human Resources functions.
  • Specialized training in compensation, classification, employment law, recruitment, and employee relations.
  • Higher education experience.

Pay

$48,800.00 - $53,000.00 annually
