Compensation Analyst

Join Smithfield Foods as a Compensation Analyst, where you will ensure fair and competitive compensation practices. This role involves managing position descriptions, evaluations, FLSA testing, salary administration, and conducting in-depth compensation analyses to keep our compensation requirements precise and compliant. You will also implement innovative compensation programs that align with our strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Dynamic Data Management
- Complete and maintain salary survey data by compiling, organizing, and submitting data on a timely basis for management's annual reviews and frequent job pricing.
- Evaluate organizational jobs, document responsibilities and requirements in job descriptions, and respond to inquiries about compensation, market competitiveness, job leveling, and job description maintenance.
- Execute core processes, support the annual merit increase process, and partner with HRIS and Payroll departments to ensure smooth, efficient, and error-free operations.
- Strategic Compensation Solutions
- Maintain and enhance a comprehensive database for accessing compensation information and associated job descriptions.
- Assist with KPI tracking, calculations, and forecasting of all incentive plans, including annual incentives and sales incentive compensation.
- Prepare compensation-based communication materials and support key stakeholders to drive the completion of compensation projects.
- Special Projects and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain internal compensation databases, processes, and procedures, ensuring continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Tackle special projects such as acquisition integration, organization restructuring, system installation, and report analysis.
- Seek internal and external information to provide strategic solutions to complex compensation issues and partner with finance for compensation audits and accruals.
- Use analytics to monitor the effectiveness of compensation plans, programs, and policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, compensation principles and concepts, compensation analysis and consulting, including market pricing, compensation plan/structure design, job evaluation and grading, and FLSA review.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills, including expertise in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and HRIS.
Skills
- Demonstrated maturity in dealing with all levels of employees and ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee information.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, project management, organizational, and communication skills; ability to multi-task.
- Current PHR, SHRM-CP, or CCP certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with both internal and external vendors and customers.
- Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
Pay
The expected pay range for this position is $70,000 - $97,500 annually. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including scope and responsibilities of the role, location, candidate’s qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions, and budget considerations.
