JOB SUMMARY

This position plays a key role in providing the community career pathway courses, reskill/upskill training, and professional development training through Goodwill Central Oklahoma’s Skills Training Employment Programs (STEP), reaching clients across various locations such as the Goodwill Central Oklahoma corporate office, the Goodwill HUBs, mobile units, and on-site at various community partners' locations within the service area, depending on job placement upon hiring.

About the role

The Community Training Specialist is responsible for having a practical and working understanding of Goodwill’s overall pre-developed curriculum content including career pathway courses and the training/professional development material. This position competently manages the classroom while delivering Goodwill’s pre-developed curriculum using teaching strategies supporting different styles of adult learning.

Responsibilities

  • Train as scheduled by Community Training leadership for the designated areas assigned, the career pathway certificate and employment training programs offered under the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools (OBPVS).
  • Ensure the pre-developed training programs and coursework are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with CARF* and OBPVS* standards.
  • Gain and maintain competency in all curriculum content within each of the currently offered career pathway certificate programs listed in Goodwill Central Oklahoma’s Client Course Catalog and/or identified by WFD leadership.
  • Teach career pathway training material covering all program learning outcomes and content learning objectives as guided in the pre-development trainer’s manual noting supplemental resources (articles, activities, etc.) used while training so additional items may be considered for future revisions.
  • Collect, maintain and submit data as stated in Goodwill Central Oklahoma Workforce Development (WFD) Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide short-term community professional development training and/or workshops as directed and in locations as scheduled by WFD leadership.
  • Gain and maintain competency in all curriculum content within each of the training/workshop classes you are assigned.
  • Teach pre-developed, short-term community professional development training material covering all program learning outcomes and content learning objectives as guided in the pre-development trainer manual noting additional resources (articles, activities, etc.) used while training so supplemental items may be considered for future revisions.
  • Collect, maintain and submit data for each training course as stated in Goodwill Central Oklahoma Workforce Development (WFD) Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Serve on in-house committees as needed on behalf of Goodwill Central Oklahoma, contributing to organizational initiatives and projects.
  • Participate in staff, interagency, or other project coordinating meetings, collaborating with internal and external teams to support the successful execution of programs and services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Education, Business Administration, or related field, but certifications and experience are a must.
  • 3 years’ experience in public speaking or teaching roles is required.
  • Clean driving record, driver’s license and valid insurance required; must be able to drive on behalf of the organization and be insurable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other team members.
  • Experience working with individuals with multiple barriers to employment preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Google Apps, Outlook and able to navigate the internet easily.
  • Must be eligible to work with children under the age of 18 without limitations.
  • Responsible for reviewing and becoming familiar with Goodwill Central Oklahoma's safety policies, programs, and procedures.

Skills

  • Ability to explain understanding adult learning theory in relatable dialogue.
  • Describe the level of familiarity of workforce development/industry-specific training.
  • Provide two – three examples of professional experience in developing competency-based education and skills assessment.

$60K

Schedule

Works 40 hours per week or more with additional hours or weekends on occasion as needed and pre-arranged with WFD supervisor.
