Community Supports DSP

Under direct supervision, join our team as a part-time (20-hour) compassionate and dedicated worker to help care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Provide education, instruction, direct services, and supports to empower and enable individuals to achieve their stated goals and live as optimally as possible. Facilitate community inclusion, integration, and relationship building.

Responsibilities

• Performs and teaches infection control, assists in toileting, and helps keep individuals clean.
• Administers first aid treatments and maintains confidentiality of information.
• Meets the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each individual using a person-centered approach.
• Ensures goals reflected in an individual’s plan are addressed and worked on collaboratively.
• Assists individuals in performing activities of daily living with as much independence as possible.
• Develops social skills through education, training, and role modeling.
• Acts as an advocate for individuals, encouraging self-advocacy and choices.
• Prepares and maintains records of progress and services performed, reporting changes to management.
• Ensures the safety and well-being of individuals at all times.
• Maintains open communication with caregivers and management regarding any issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 1 year of experience, or a High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Must maintain all required training and certifications, including CPR and First Aid.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and active listening skills.
• Good time management and ability to multi-task.
• Collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands

• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend.
• Fingering required regularly for typing and repetitive hand motions.
• Regularly required to talk and hear, exchanging and receiving detailed information.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus (e.g., for computer work and data analysis).
• Required to function around individuals with disabilities in an indoor work environment.
