About the Role
The Parker Police Department is seeking a Community Services Officer to join our team. This role involves working directly with residents, businesses, pet owners, and community partners to promote compliance with town ordinances related to animal care and control, parking enforcement, and municipal code compliance.
Responsibilities
- Conducts on-site inspections to assess compliance with Municipal Code and issues notices of violation, warnings, citations, and summonses for Municipal Court.
- Enforces animal care and control ordinances and responds to calls for service related to animals.
- Enforces parking ordinances in accordance with Town regulations.
- Educates residents, landowners, pet owners, and agencies on applicable Town laws, ordinances, and codes, including Titles 6, 7, 8, and 9.
- Assists patrol with non-emergency calls for service, including found property, traffic control, trespass notifications, camping violations, and related support.
- Collaborates and assists with the Community Development department on related code enforcement activities as needed or required.
- Initiates corrective actions to achieve compliance and provides court testimony as required.
- Documents enforcement actions, gathers evidence, prepares reports, and maintains accurate records to support compliance efforts.
- Supports and participates in community education and outreach activities related to ordinance compliance and animal care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED supplemented by two (2) years of related experience.
- An associate’s degree in public administration, public relations, animal behavior, animal science, criminal justice or related field is preferred.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.
- Possession of or ability to obtain State and National Animal Control certifications within eighteen (18) months of hire preferred.
- Possession of or ability to obtain one (1) of the following certifications within eighteen (18) months of hire: the Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials, the American Association of Code Enforcement, the International Code Council Certified Zoning Officer, or the International Code Council Certified Property Maintenance/Housing Inspector preferred.

Skills
- Knowledge of relevant town, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of legal aspects of municipal code enforcement and administrative procedures.
- Knowledge of municipal zoning regulations, principles, practices and procedures.
- Mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution techniques.
- Use of computers and various software programs.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Operation of computers and other types of modern office equipment.
- Positive customer service attitude towards all people and handling challenging situations.
- Ability to provide positive customer service attitude towards all people and handle challenging situations.
- Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.
- Ability to be self-motivated and take initiative while working independently with little to no supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret maps.
- Ability to work irregular hours or on-call weekends, evenings, holidays, and/or during emergency situations.

Pay
$25.71 /hr - $30.86/hr. The full range goes to $36.00/hr.
Schedule
Typically four (4) ten-hour shifts 6am-4pm. Schedule will either be Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Sunday, based on seniority. Nights, weekends and holidays may be required. This position requires on-call rotation work.
