Community Residence Counselor - Adult OCDI per diem

About the Role

The Community Residence Counselor (CRC) provides direct patient care and participates in the therapeutic milieu within a residential program serving adults (18+) with moderate to severe or treatment-resistant OCD. This position operates under the direction of the Program Manager and requires active engagement in patient activities, supervision, and adherence to treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in accordance with current treatment plans, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, and Charge Nurse.
• Supervises and facilitates community activities tailored to patient needs.
• Remains awake and alert at all times while on duty.
• Assists patients in maintaining and attending appointments.
• Documents patient interactions, progress, and shift notes with clarity and timeliness.
• Builds supportive, professional relationships with patients while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Participates in patient rounds, status checks, and team meetings as outlined by program guidelines.
• Completes assigned patient care tasks per program guidelines or daily assignment sheets.
• Manages the therapeutic milieu effectively, providing direction and supervision to patients as needed.
• Follows established hospital and program policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Communicates observations about the patient milieu, therapeutic environment, medication side effects, and physical or emotional changes to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
• Encourages and supports patients in activities of daily living.
• Assesses sleep patterns and assists patients in developing healthier sleep cycles, notifying the clinical team as necessary.
• Completes mandatory annual in-service requirements, including CPR and de-escalation training.
• Attends and participates in rounds and case conferences when appropriate.
• Provides physical assistance in patient activities as required.
• Supports residents with daily routines, including medical reminders, meal preparation, transportation, and personal care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred).
• Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (required).
• Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver’s License (preferred).
• One year of patient care or related experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting (preferred).
• Basic computer skills for using electronic systems (e.g., PRISM) for communication, clinical, and administrative purposes.
• Familiarity with Epic (preferred).
• Ability to drive and transport patients, if required by role and location.

Pay

$23.40 - $30.73/hour (Grade MCL051).

Schedule
