About the role
The Community Living Manager - Level 1 provides leadership and oversight for one or more community living sites, supervising all employees assigned to those locations. Classification at this designation is determined by factors such as the number of sites managed, number of program participants, level of support needs, and other relevant complexities. This position is responsible for training, coaching, appraisal, and assigning work to employees while ensuring the effective coordination and delivery of high-quality, person-centered services for program participants. The Community Living Manager - Level 1 oversees daily operations, maintains accountability for house budgets and program participants' petty cash, and ensures compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide a supportive, caring, safe, and home-like environment by attending to individual needs, respecting differences, and supporting growth and independence.
- Assist each program participant with personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and all other activities of daily living.
- Ensure that program participants' emotional, physical, or medical needs are being met and address concerns regarding their health, safety, and well-being.
- Assist with the referral process including visitations, pre-admission meetings, orientation of program participants and family/guardian, and completion of all required paperwork.
- Implement individual program planning, including completion of Annual and Quarterly review forms, establishing and monitoring outcomes, training staff, and developing specialized programs.
- Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and related activities (social, recreational, educational, and developmental).
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of ISPs and applicable protocols, ensuring staff are well-versed in them.
- Monitor health needs of program participants, including scheduling and attending appointments, and ensuring required paperwork is accurately completed and submitted.
- Coordinate supportive services, including initiating referrals, attending meetings with specialists, reviewing documentation, and reporting concerns.
- Adhere to procedures and fulfill responsibilities related to medication management and administration as outlined in the Medication Administration Policy.
- Ensure accuracy of all medication information in the electronic medical administration record and monitor medication records at least three times per week.
- Complete and maintain certification in the Medication Administration Train the Trainer course to ensure compliance with biannual medication practicums.
- Complete HRST training to ensure compliance with updating program participants' HRST and attend team meetings as needed.
- Address immediate problems of program participants in collaboration with program staff and refer concerns to the Community Living Director.
- Assist with completion of in-house orientation of new employees and monitor/track employee annual training hours.
- Supervise all personnel assigned to the community living site, including establishing expectations, monitoring performance, and conducting annual appraisals.
- Conduct regular (at least monthly) staff meetings to disseminate agency and resident information.
- Schedule staff, cover staff shortages, and find replacement staff in the event of call-offs.
- Review electronic timecards and ensure timely submission for payroll processing.
- Effectively manage personnel scheduling to optimize resource allocation and minimize excess overtime.
- Ensure accuracy in timekeeping and correct application of pay codes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Complete or ensure completion of all required reports and forms, including medical reports, household budgets, incident reporting, and programmatic reports.
- Complete Monthly Report Form in accordance with regulatory requirements and prepare for scheduled monthly meetings.
- Be responsive to requests from the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Complete internal licensing inspections (monthly) and prepare for annual state licensing.
- Host visitors and communicate relevant program and personnel information to the Community Living Director.
- Attend meetings and professional development programs as required, with a minimum of 24 training hours each training year.
- Complete Frontline Supervisor Credentialing through NADSP after a minimum of six months of employment in a frontline manager role.
- Provide transportation to program participants as needed.
- In the event of an emergency or extreme staff shortage, serve as sleepover staff.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience working directly with persons with an intellectual disability or autism; or
- An associate's degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience working directly with persons with an intellectual disability or autism; or
- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and four (4) years of experience working directly with persons with an intellectual disability or autism.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Experience developing and implementing person-centered outcomes.
- Experience administering skill assessment instruments and interpreting results.
- Experience in the design and implementation of comprehensive, individualized program plans.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to represent ProBerco professionally in all settings.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

Pay

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Lifting: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds independently, and potentially more with assistance when transferring a program participant (e.g., from a bed to a wheelchair or into a tub).
- Mobility and Movement: Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, and kneeling; standing and walking for extended periods; pushing and pulling against resistance; reaching overhead and to ground level; ascending/descending stairs and ramps; assisting with transfers (e.g., in and out of vehicles, beds, or baths).
- Personal Care Assistance: Ability to physically assist with personal hygiene and daily living needs, which may involve exposure to bodily fluids.
