The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is a 156-bed private behavioral health system located on 13 acres in the Greenville, South Carolina Area. Specializing in psychiatric programs and substance abuse treatments such as detox and rehab, The Carolina Center serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and areas throughout South Carolina and western North Carolina. Programs are available at various levels of care to accommodate the severity of every patient's condition: inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment.

Summary of Job Duties

The Community Liaison directly serves as the liaison between the facility, the community, and referring agencies. The Community Liaison is directly responsible for creating demand for the facility's services through the effective application of ethical marketing principles and sales methods. In collaboration with the Director of Business Development and Business Development Team, the Community Liaison represents a positive and professional public image of the facility within the community. The Account Manager is responsible for implementing the facility's strategic sales plan, enhancing the facility's brand/image, effectively managing their assigned territory and accounts, and working to achieve departmental and facility business development goals. The Community Liaison must be able to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication in a fast-paced environment. Hours are based on departmental and facility needs and may include day, evening and weekend hours, as directed by the Director of Business Development.

Essential Job Functions

  • Effectively demonstrate and implement Sales Excellence and Service Recovery standards
  • Act as liaison between the facility and referral sources and implement service-oriented action plans responsive to referral source needs, serve as a resource and representative to the community, and conduct facility tours to key stakeholders
  • Demonstrate skills in identifying and building a strategic sales plan for existing and potential referral sources within assigned territory and target markets; effectively incorporate relevant research findings in identifying contacts
  • Facilitate positive, timely, and accurate communication. Encourage cooperation and utilize problem-solving skills to build and secure relationships among the facility, the referral source, the patient, their family and the community
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of each of the facility's programs and services, including Inpatient, Residential and Outpatient programs, the assessment process, and transportation services

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field required. Experience may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis in lieu of a degree.

Experience: Prior marketing and/or sales experience within a behavioral healthcare setting preferred. Three years minimum documented experience in referral development, account management, sales growth, and physician relationships preferred. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License
  • Prefer knowledge of the Upstate of SC behavioral health marketplace, insurance plans, target markets and referral sources, psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment, and age-specific programming
  • Must possess demonstrated business development concepts, sales abilities, competency in computer usage, and excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of and skills in application of marketing and sales principles
  • Creativity and flexibility
  • Skills in data collection analysis and interpretation
  • Record of adherence to deadlines
  • Customer service skills
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight travel as required

Machines, Tools, Equipment: Computer and software programs. Copy machine. Telephone and paging system. Policies, procedures, plans and program manuals.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift 50-100 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken language or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly. Hearing to perceive sound with no less than 40 dBs loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks and visually observe patients on the unit and in therapeutic activities. While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
