Community Engagement Manager, AWS InCommunities
About the role
You will lead AWS Infrastructure's community engagement strategy across Mississippi, Louisiana and the wider region, while building relationships with our local community, stakeholders and organizations to create positive impact while supporting AWS's regional growth. This role requires deep community relations experience, strategic thinking, and the ability to represent AWS effectively in community settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategy development and execution of Community Engagement Plans for major development projects.
- Design and execute InCommunities signature events and programs. Provide vision for the sustainable community engagement initiatives across the region, and manage these initiatives with attention to detail and a high bar for quality.
- Communicate the impact of InCommunities programs internally and externally. Represent AWS Infrastructure publicly in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Utilize multiple communications channels including, but not limited to newsletters, the intranet, social media, and email campaigns to drive employee awareness and involvement in community engagement initiatives.
- Proactively address internal and external issues that pose reputational risks to AWS and business objectives. Serve as the point of contact for community-centric issues and concerns.
- Support community assessment for new sites in the region, identify potential community-related risks and develop a community engagement plan to proactively mitigate the risks. Think strategically in order to scale InCommunities programming as AWS business grows.
- Capture data to demonstrate community engagement’s quantified and qualified impact on AWS Infrastructure, its employees, and the community, and communicate these values internally and externally.
- Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, real estate, energy, water, sustainability, construction, legal, public policy, and public relations to deliver results.
- Be physically, on-the-ground in locations, roll up sleeves and get work done when required.
Requirements
- 10+ years of public policy, government relations, community relations, public affairs, or corporate social responsibility experience
- Experience managing complex and fast-moving issues
- 5+ years professional experience supporting major infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams across geographies and business units
- Experience communicating to a diverse, global audience
Skills
The ideal candidate brings experience working within corporate structures and community affairs with expert level experience on issues management. You should demonstrate the ability to write and speak effectively for audiences of varying sizes, think strategically while maintaining attention to detail, and work effectively with cross-functional teams. Success in this role requires self-awareness, autonomy, and alignment with Amazon Leadership Principles, particularly Think Big, Bias for Action, Earn Trust, and Ownership. You must be comfortable having difficult conversations with community members while achieving productive outcomes, and know when to escalate matters to leadership.

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Pay
Base salary range for this position is $129,300.00 - $175,000.00 USD annually.
Schedule
This role requires travel (approximately 30% of time) throughout the region, with a base location in Canton, Mississippi.
