Outdoor Education Camp
As part of 5th, 6th or 7th grade school curriculum, students in teams of 30-160 students participate in an overnight/multi-night program based at the Babler Outdoor Education Center. Students participate in 2-8 different classes throughout their stay that are taught by teachers and OEC Instructors. They spend the night in heated cabins and eat meals in the dining hall. There is a nurse on site for all school overnight programs and parents or teachers chaperone students in cabins.
Responsibilities
- Set-up and clean-up of camp classes and programs
- Lead camp programs according to lesson plan in outdoor/out of classroom environment
- Study and understand program information and help create curriculum
- Lead evening programs such as hikes, campfire or games
- Recognize problems and report them to OEC staff
- Clean camp facility/sweep/disinfect as needed
- Assist with scout programs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Instructors will be trained on-site for all programs/activities they are expected to lead. As new programs are developed, instructor input and knowledge is encouraged and expected. Instructors are expected to arrive to set up 30-45 minutes prior to their assigned program. Instructors are expected to clean up program area at the end of the program day.
Pay
Payment is based on an hourly rate of $11.26/hr
Schedule
Dates and hours vary. Available shifts include 4-8 hour, day or evening.
