Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Program Administrator and certified instructional staff, the Community Coach provides individualized support to transition-age students participating in CREC's college-based transition program at Connecticut State Community College (Central).
Duties/Responsibilities
- Support students in academic, employment, community, and campus environments.
- Support students in successfully entering and maintaining pre-employment and employment opportunities.
- Provide individualized instruction in executive functioning, self-advocacy, communication, independent living, and workplace readiness.
- Implement instructional strategies, accommodations, and behavior support plans.
- Maintain timely documentation and student progress data.
- Collaborate with faculty, employers, families, related service providers, adult agencies, and community partners.
- Aid in travel training and community navigation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents or young adults with disabilities preferred.
- Experience in transition services, community-based instruction, employment supports, or post-secondary programs preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between instructional and community locations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an STV license for student transport if needed.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
