About the role

BLN24 is seeking a Communications Specialist to support strategic communications, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement efforts for a federal healthcare organization. This position supports communications initiatives that strengthen organizational awareness, promote mission objectives, and engage diverse internal and external audiences across geographically dispersed locations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop communication products including articles, newsletters, talking points, press materials, website content, and executive messaging.
  • Support communication strategies that align with organizational goals and stakeholder priorities.
  • Ensure messaging is clear, accurate, and tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Assist with media relations and public affairs activities.
  • Care for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Manage and update digital communication channels, including websites, email communications, and social media platforms.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and recommend improvements to communication strategies.
  • Stay current with emerging communication technologies and social media trends.
  • Aid in the planning and production of visual communications, including photography, videography, graphics, and multimedia content.
  • Edit digital media using industry-standard software as needed.
  • Support event coverage and organizational storytelling initiatives.
  • Manage multiple communication projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of communication products.
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in public affairs, communications, or strategic communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency using digital communication platforms and tools.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, content management, and engagement best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), Military Health System (MHS), or other federal healthcare organizations.
  • Familiarity with military healthcare systems or military public affairs.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Experience supporting executive communications, internal communications, or strategic outreach initiatives.
