About the Role

The Communications Manager will oversee and develop key communications channels, including the quarterly Osteopathic Family Physician journal, the ACOFP Blog, and the association’s website. This hands-on and strategic role reports to the Director of Communications and Engagement and involves shaping communications strategy, managing publications, and supporting digital engagement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Inform communications strategy, support implementation, and monitor metrics.
  • Oversee the curation, development, and dissemination of weekly blog posts.
  • Provide content and dissemination strategies for association social media platforms.
  • Draft speeches, presentations, press releases, and other leadership communications.
  • Manage all ACOFP website content, including the ACOFP Foundation website.
  • Serve as managing editor for the Osteopathic Family Physician journal, overseeing the entire publications process, including article selection, writing the president’s message, copyediting, and coordinating with external vendors.
  • Curate and edit content for ACOFP’s AI-driven e-newsletters.
  • Travel to up to two annual conventions and occasional state society meetings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a communications position with publications experience.
  • Proficiency in website management; association and/or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong and proven written communication and editorial skills (AMA and/or AP-style highly preferred).
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Proficiency in email platforms (e.g., Informz, Mailchimp, Constant Contact), content management systems (e.g., WordPress, RISE, Drupal), and association management software (e.g., iMIS, Nimble, Salesforce) preferred.
  • Experience using social media, electronic communications, and Microsoft Office products, including remote collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams.
  • Project management expertise, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and experience with project management tools.
  • Experience working with volunteer groups preferred.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required upon hiring.
