About the role
Under the direction of the Chief Communications Officer, the Communications Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of Root Center for Advanced Recovery's communications, marketing, branding, and public relations initiatives. This position plays a key role in advancing the organization's mission by developing compelling content, managing communication channels, supporting media and community relations, and ensuring consistent messaging across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Communications Officer in implementing organization-wide communications and marketing strategies that support Root Center's strategic priorities.
- Manage the organization's day-to-day communications activities, ensuring consistent messaging and brand standards across all platforms.
- Develop, write, edit, and publish content for digital and print communications, including newsletters, press releases, website content, blogs, email campaigns, brochures, annual reports, and marketing collateral.
- Lead the organization's social media strategy, including content creation, scheduling, community engagement, advertising campaigns, analytics, and performance reporting.
- Collaborate with clinical, operations, development, human resources, and leadership teams to support organizational initiatives through effective communication plans.
- Coordinate marketing and communications support for community events, educational programs, fundraising initiatives, and organizational campaigns.
- Manage the production of photography, video, graphic design, and other creative assets that support organizational objectives and align with brand standards.
- Monitor website content and coordinate updates to ensure information remains accurate, accessible, and current.
- Track and analyze communications and marketing performance using analytics tools, providing recommendations to improve engagement and effectiveness.
- Affirmatively promote Root Center's mission and commitment to reducing stigma through effective communication and community engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field required.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field preferred.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills across multiple communication channels.
- Experience managing organizational social media platforms and digital marketing campaigns.
- Knowledge of branding, content strategy, media relations, internal communications, and project management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (including Premiere Pro preferred), WordPress or website content management systems, email marketing platforms, social media management platforms (e.g., Sprout Social), and Google Analytics.
- Photography, videography, and graphic design experience preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, behavioral health, or human services organizations preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
