About the role

The Communications Coordinator supports the execution of Soles4Souls' external and internal communications efforts through strong writing, press support, and event coordination. This role is an integral part of the communications team, helping bring the organization's mission and stories to life across media materials, organizational content, and events. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, mission-driven communicator who is eager to grow their skills in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and proofread a wide range of communications materials including press releases, media pitches, newsletters, talking points, and organizational announcements.
  • Maintain and update press lists, media contact databases, and coverage tracking logs.
  • Support media relations efforts by assisting with pitch distribution, monitoring for coverage, and compiling media reports.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of press materials for organizational initiatives, campaigns, and partner announcements.
  • Coordinate logistics for communications-related events including press events, speaking engagements, and organizational activations.
  • Provide on-site or virtual support for events, serving as a point of contact for media and external guests as needed.
  • Assist in preparing executive communications materials such as bios, briefing documents, and presentation content.
  • Help maintain consistency of brand voice and messaging across communications outputs.
  • Conduct research to support media pitching, story development, and competitive landscape monitoring.
  • Manage internal communications calendars and help track project timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, program, and business development teams on communications needs.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Strong writing portfolio demonstrating experience with press materials, editorial content, or organizational communications.
  • Experience supporting events, media relations efforts, or executive communications preferred.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools and contact databases (e.g., Cision, Muck Rack) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with project management tools preferred.
  • Passion for social impact, product philanthropy, and purpose-driven work.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands

  • Repetitive Motion: Perform repetitive tasks, such as data entry, for extended periods of time.
  • Work Environment: Be able to work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and be exposed to varying weather conditions if applicable.
