Communications Coordinator
CIMEA is a national nonpartisan educational organization dedicated to advancing students’ understanding of the Middle East and Africa. We empower the next generation of informed leaders to engage thoughtfully and constructively with complex international challenges, fostering curiosity, dialogue, and mutual respect on campuses. Our work creates a meeting ground for students of all backgrounds to explore topics concerning the Middle East and Africa through the free exchange of ideas and diverse perspectives.
About the role
This is an unpaid, fully virtual role with optional in-person opportunities in Washington, D.C., and at college campuses nationwide. The Communications Coordinator manages external advertising for CIMEA, including social media, newsletters, and team collaboration. Workload varies (2–6 hours per week on average, up to 12 hours during peak periods). We respect your time and commitments outside of CIMEA.
Responsibilities
- Run CIMEA’s LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, with potential expansion to other platforms.
- Collaborate with the editorial assistant to publish our newsletter.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and individual check-ins with relevant team members.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a university degree program.
- Strong writing proficiency for newsletter and social media content.
- Proficient in managing Instagram, LinkedIn, or other social platforms.
- Committed to expanding student access to opportunities across the U.S.
- Committed to fostering the free exchange of ideas and civil dialogue on university campuses.
