Carolina Ascent FC and Charlotte Independence are professional soccer organizations dedicated to building championship teams, delivering exceptional fan experiences, and creating a lasting impact throughout the Charlotte community. Carolina Ascent FC competes in the Gainbridge USL Super League as a Division I professional women's club, while Charlotte Independence competes in USL League One as a Division III professional men’s club. Since our inaugural season, Carolina Ascent FC has quickly established itself as one of the league's premier clubs, earning the inaugural Players' Shield while building a passionate and growing fan base across the Carolinas. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary communications contact for the Carolina Ascent W League team. Assist with the creation, editing, and distribution of press releases, media advisories, newsletters, feature stories, and club announcements. Prepare and distribute game notes, match previews, recaps, statistics, and other media materials. Respond to media requests and assist with media relations activities. Support player, coach, and executive interview coordination. Maintain media contact databases and distribution lists.
  • Serve as the back-up to the day-to-day management of the Carolina Ascent FC and Charlotte Independence websites: Maintain website content including news stories, schedules, rosters, standings, ticketing information, sponsor content, and promotional materials. Ensure websites remain accurate, current, and aligned with organizational priorities. Coordinate website updates across internal departments including ticketing, marketing, sponsorship, and operations. Assist with SEO best practices and digital content optimization. Monitor website analytics and provide recommendations to improve traffic and engagement.
  • Create, edit, and publish written content across club platforms. Assist with storytelling initiatives highlighting players, coaches, supporters, partners, and community programs. Support email marketing and newsletter content development. Coordinate post-match content distribution including recaps, statistics, quotes, and media assets. Assist with maintaining consistency in messaging, voice, and brand standards.
  • Serve as a visible communications representative during home matches and special events. Support game day media credentialing and media operations. Coordinate press box and media workroom activities. Assist with statistical reporting and league communication requirements. Support post-match press conferences and interview logistics. Distribute match reports, statistics, and media materials following games.
  • Support communications requirements for the USL Super League, USL League One, and USL W League. Assist with league reporting, statistical submissions, and content deadlines. Coordinate with league communications staff on media opportunities and special initiatives. Support organizational announcements, community relations efforts, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of communications, media relations, journalism, or digital content experience.
  • Experience writing in AP Style required.
  • Experience managing website content through a CMS platform preferred.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canva, or similar content tools preferred.
  • Experience in sports, media, journalism, or live events preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and all home and away matches.
