Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Brand Communications Manager develops, implements and oversees integrated marketing and communication strategies that enhance Winthrop’s reputation, ensure brand consistency and support strategic initiatives, including recruitment and retention goals. Incumbent serves as an important “guardian of the brand,” using a broad array of communications, including traditional and digital technologies, to ensure successful results.

Produces high-quality, story-driven content (written, video and photo) for websites, social media, marketing collateral and publications across all communications channels.

Establishes and maintain a consistent and effective brand voice.

Aids in the creation and execution of marketing concepts and in market research to understand and best utilize recruitment strategies for undergraduate, graduate and online education.

Collaborates with Admissions teams to support electronic communications, presentations and event needs, including securing photography and graphics for campaigns, managing parent communication, etc.

Collaborates with the video production manager on projects and reels and offers support by writing scripts, building storyboards and identifying/prepping talent.

Attends and supports university events as requested, occasionally after hours and on weekends.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, or journalism.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in marketing or communications in higher or secondary education.
  • Proficiency with AP Style.
  • Knowledge of the trends and communication techniques that appeal to 16- to 18-year-olds.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills.
  • Photography and/or videography skills a plus.
  • Effective project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to monitor, report and act on campaign performance data.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and manage complex projects with tight deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of faculty, staff and students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three to five years of relevant experience in marketing or communications in higher or secondary education.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, content management systems (CMS), social media tools and other communications-related software tools.
  • Experience in the development of compelling advertising/marketing concepts, large-scale corporate identity programs, and brand guidelines and management.
  • Experience contributing to effective electronic communications.

Additional Comments

Travel/Overtime Requirements: Occasional work outside normal business hours to meet deadlines and attend events.
