Communication Specialist I - Dispatcher - 911 Operator

About the role

The incumbent receives, analyzes, and dispatches messages to radio-equipped units of Police, Fire, and Ambulance departments, and monitors burglar and fire alarms.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Previous experience in operation of a two-way radio and computer terminal
• OLETS certification preferred
• Must pass a data entry test (minimum of 5,500 keystrokes per hour)
• Must pass an in-depth background check, polygraph, drug screen, and hearing test

This position is designated as safety/security sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, and random drug and alcohol screening.

Pay

Starting salary: $24.2841–$25.7130 per hour.
