The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for a Communication Specialist I in the Emergency Communications Department.
About the role
The incumbent receives, analyzes, and dispatches messages to radio-equipped units of Police, Fire & Ambulance departments and monitors burglar and fire alarms.
Responsibilities
- Receives, analyzes, and dispatches messages to radio-equipped units of Police, Fire & Ambulance departments and monitors burglar and fire alarms.
- Operates a two-way radio and computer terminal.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with prior experience operating a two-way radio and OLETs certification preferred.
- Must pass a data entry test (minimum of 5500 keystrokes per hour), in-depth background check, polygraph, drug screen, and hearing test.
- This position is designated as safety/security sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, and random drug and alcohol screening.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Prior experience operating a two-way radio
- OLETs Certification preferred
