The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for a Communication Specialist I in the Emergency Communications Department.

About the role

The incumbent receives, analyzes, and dispatches messages to radio-equipped units of Police, Fire & Ambulance departments and monitors burglar and fire alarms.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, analyzes, and dispatches messages to radio-equipped units of Police, Fire & Ambulance departments and monitors burglar and fire alarms.
  • Operates a two-way radio and computer terminal.
  • Passes data entry test (minimum of 5500 keystrokes per hour).
  • Passes in-depth background check, polygraph, drug screen, and hearing test.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating a two-way radio.
  • Preferred Occupational Licensing Examination (OLETS) certification.

Qualifications

  • Must pass data entry test (minimum of 5500 keystrokes per hour).
  • Must pass in-depth background check, polygraph, drug screen, and hearing test.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a two-way radio and computer terminal.
  • Attention to detail.
