About the role

The Communication Specialist at UTHealth Houston's Children's Learning Institute develops and delivers strategic communications, supporting initiatives such as Texas School Ready (TSR), TECPDS, and other programs. This role creates clear, engaging content that promotes early childhood resources, professional development opportunities, and stakeholder engagement across digital, print, and event channels.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage engaging content across websites, newsletters, email campaigns, social media, and promotional materials while ensuring consistent branding and messaging.
  • Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to support events and webinars, analyze communication performance, and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Provide communications support for departmental programs through content development, writing and editing, website and newsletter management, project coordination, graphic design, and promotional materials.
  • Occasional travel is required to support events and conferences across Texas.

Requirements

This candidate may demonstrate expertise in strategic communications, content development, digital outreach, and project coordination, and be skilled in creating and managing engaging content across websites, newsletters, email campaigns, social media, and promotional materials while ensuring consistent branding and messaging.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field required.
  • 3 years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field required.

Skills

  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in communication technologies and graphic design tools to support education, outreach, and engagement initiatives.
