Communication & Media, TV Lab - Student Assistant

About the role

The department of Communication & Media is seeking an energetic and self-motivated studio Student Assistant to support our media production courses, which may include evening hours (advanced notice will be provided). Under direct supervision, the student assistant will also assist video production students with their production projects.

Responsibilities

• Organize and track records of all documentation submitted and processed by the Office
• Prepare video control room and studio for class usage
• Check video production equipment in/out to qualified students
• Provide assistance to students with their projects
• Assist instructor/staff with equipment training and tutorials
• Open and close Media Lab, Studio, and Editing Bays
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor and/or Department Chair

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to learn and perform assigned work
• Follow oral instructions
• Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students
• Communicate effectively with all levels
• Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position
• Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student

Required Qualifications

• Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative
• Enrolled in at least half-time units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
• International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Compensation

Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour. The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Schedule

• Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm)
• Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm)
