Communication Coordinator
Key responsibilities
- Manage internal and external communications
- Maintain the district website and social media platforms
- Support annual reports and surveys
- Auxiliary with crisis communications
- Coordinate special projects and events
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or higher is preferred
- Significant experience working with community/public relations
- Demonstrated ability to develop a positive community relations campaign
Performance Responsibilities
- Participate in district leadership activities
- Provide community relations input on decision-making processes
- Manage the administration and content of the district's website
- Create, prepare, and edit organizational publications for internal and external audiences
- Attend events and activities and take/prepare photos
- Create and maintain a bank of photos and graphics for media and district publications, in accordance with FERPA guidelines
- Aid staff and administration in creating positive communication opportunities with parents, community, and stakeholders
- Establish relationships with local media representatives and generate media interest in positive stories about SAU 39
- Respond to requests for information from the media or designate another appropriate spokesperson or information source
- Keep a record of all media appearances and post appropriate media coverage on the website
- Plan and direct the development and communication of informational programs, including but not limited to appearances, to help maintain favorable public opinion as SAU 39 implements the mission
- Plan and conduct market and public opinion research to determine public awareness and opinions about district programs and operations current and proposed for the future and communicate results to the administration and the public
- Coordinate and assist with emergency, crisis, and safety-related communications in collaboration with district administration, law enforcement, and emergency management personnel
- Create and manage video, graphic, and other multimedia content to support district communications and community engagement efforts
- Monitor and analyze website, social media, and communication metrics and provide periodic reports and recommendations to district leadership
- Collaborate with Human Resources to promote employment opportunities, recruitment initiatives, employee recognition, and staff retention efforts
- Develop and maintain a districtwide communications calendar to coordinate messaging, events, publications, and community outreach activities

- Follow the confidentiality guidelines as established by SAU 39
- Attend relevant training sessions, meetings, and professional growth activities as requested/required
- Interact professionally with other employees, families, and citizens
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
