Discover a career in banking at Fifth Third Bank. The Commercial Senior Portfolio Manager plays a key role in the "coverage team," managing transactions and business portfolio tasks. This position involves being deeply involved in the deal process, making recommendations on appropriate credit structures, pricing, and other aspects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of accounts and review and recommend credit decisions.
  • Partner with the Relationship Manager to form the "coverage team" for meeting with clients and participating in business development calls.
  • Assess prospective clients' viability for credit, define borrowers and guarantors, deal structure, credit terms, and financial covenants, and evaluate the value of collateral.
  • Generate commitment letters and perform final risk rating analysis.
  • Capture and document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications.
  • Collaborate with the Credit Analyst for portfolio management duties such as establishing and maintaining an investor group on the lender portal, performing monitoring actions, conducting periodic deal reviews, and executing decisions to renew or modify deals.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding credit events and actions as needed.
  • Work independently to pitch the most complex deal structures.
  • Focus on continuous learning to stay updated with market dynamics.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert, mentor to more junior PMs and Credit Analysts, and leverage expertise to provide insights into the Bank's different lines of business and related economics.
  • Provide timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback to employees, develop them to their fullest potential, and ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting).
  • At least 8 years credit analysis and/or loan review experience in CRE credit/underwriting.
  • Highly proficient analytical skills, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Professional presence (client-facing).
  • Experience managing an advanced commercial client portfolio with significant complexity.
  • Ability to partner with all deal stakeholders including clients, relationship managers, and credit teams.
  • Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling.
  • Demonstrated expertise in effective problem-solving.
  • Proficient with technology and able to learn new applications.
  • Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
  • Some travel required.

Pay

Commercial Portfolio Manager- CRE Total Base Pay Range: $96,500.00 - $207,500.00 USD annually.

Schedule

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like. Some travel required.
