Responsibilities
- Plumbing Installation and Repair: Pipe and System Installation, Perform a wide range of repairs including fixing leaks, replacing worn or damaged pipes, unclogging drains, and repairing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and faucets in residential properties. Industrial Plumbing Maintenance: Work with large-scale industrial piping systems, including troubleshooting and repairing systems related to water supply, compressed air, natural gas, and other utilities used in the plant.
- Backflow Testing and Prevention: Test and maintain backflow prevention systems to ensure compliance with local and state regulations. Install new backflow prevention devices as needed.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Identify Plumbing Issues, Repair and Replace Components, Perform Preventative Maintenance, Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance on plumbing systems to prevent future issues, minimize downtime, and extend the life of equipment and piping systems.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure Code Compliance, Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and hard hats while working. Adhere to OSHA and company safety standards, especially when working in confined spaces or with hazardous materials.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with Other Departments, Coordinate with maintenance teams, electricians, and other trades to ensure the successful completion of projects. Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruption during repairs. Document Work Completed, Keep accurate records of all installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks performed. Update logs and submit reports to the Facilities Manager as required.
- Customer Service and Interaction: Provide professional service in residential settings, ensuring that plumbing work is performed to the satisfaction of the homeowner or tenant. Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor.
Requirements
- Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills: Strong working knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and methods. Proficiency in working with copper, PVC, galvanized, and cast-iron pipes. Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings to assess system layouts and plan pipe installations. Proficient in using tools and equipment related to plumbing, such as pipe wrenches, threading machines, and pipe cutters. Safety and Code Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of plumbing codes, backflow prevention, and safety protocols in both residential and industrial settings. Troubleshooting Ability: Capable of diagnosing and solving complex plumbing problems, including leaks, blockages, and system malfunctions. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with residential customers, coworkers, and supervisors. Work Ethic and Dependability: Must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete projects on time with minimal supervision. Must be detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks at once.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a commercial plumber, with both industrial and residential experience preferred. Education and Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. A valid plumbing license is required. Backflow certification is a plus. MSHA Part 48 (Surface New Miner training) also highly preferred.
- Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Physical Activity: Regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. Must be able to lift and move heavy tools and equipment, up to 75 pounds. Work Environment: Work in both indoor and outdoor settings, exposed to weather, dust, loud noise, and hazardous materials such as gas and sewage. Work may require entering confined spaces and working in high places. Safety Gear: Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Shift Flexibility: Must be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to support 24/7 facility operations or emergency repairs.
Pay
The Commercial Plumber position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
