About the role

We are looking for a Natural Gas Operations Specialist to join our Global Procurement team in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Deputy Scheduler readiness by training with the Senior Scheduler and, when activated, supporting nominations, confirmations, imbalance management, and pipeline communications in line with defined controls and escalation procedures.
  • Become the business owner and super user for BASF’s natural gas ETRM platform (Entrade Enuit) by managing and improving Enuit Entrade workflows, ensuring master data accuracy, supporting transaction setup, troubleshooting issues, and driving continuous process improvements.
  • Owning and completing trade confirmations, invoice validation, and settlements by reconciling transaction data, investigating discrepancies, and coordinating resolution with accounting, trading, and counterparties.
  • Monitor and document operational activity including scheduled versus actual volumes, imbalances, and pipeline events to maintain accurate, audit-ready records aligned with internal & external approval / governance requirements.
  • Enhance processes, controls, and reporting tools by identifying recurring issues, strengthening reconciliations, supporting user acceptance testing, and implementing practical improvements.
  • Collaborate with traders, scheduling, accounting, and pipeline contacts to resolve time-sensitive operational issues efficiently.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Accounting, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
  • Have 1+ year of experience in natural gas scheduling, gas operations, pipeline operations, energy logistics, commodity operations, trade support, settlements, invoice reconciliation, or transaction-based systems.
  • Possess working knowledge of natural gas scheduling concepts such as nominations, confirmations, imbalances, and time-sensitive operational deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills with the ability to reconcile data and investigate discrepancies.
  • Strong communication skills and sound judgment when working with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Able to support time-sensitive operational needs, including occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday coverage.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of natural gas markets and industry regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
