We are looking for an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to support a well-established California law firm serving financial institutions, lenders, and business clients in complex dispute matters. This long-term contract position is based in Costa Mesa, California, and offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated commercial litigation in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage commercial litigation files through various stages in both state and federal courts.
- Advocate for banking, lending, and corporate clients in contested business disputes.
- Prepare litigation documents such as complaints, motions, discovery requests and responses, and subpoenas.
- Perform legal research and translate findings into practical recommendations for case direction.
- Support the development of litigation strategy in collaboration with other attorneys and legal staff.
- Take part in depositions, settlement discussions, court appearances, and trial preparation.
- Maintain organized case files and monitor deadlines to ensure timely handling of all matters.
Requirements
- Active admission to the California State Bar.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing litigation, including defense-side matters.
- Background in commercial or civil litigation involving business-related disputes.
- Strong ability to draft motions, briefs, and other court-facing legal documents.
- Proficiency in discovery management, legal research, and case organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative legal team.
