About the Role

A well-established and highly respected Maryland law firm is seeking an experienced Of Counsel to join their Commercial Litigation practice. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned trial attorney who enjoys managing sophisticated business disputes, serving as a trusted advisor to clients, and playing a leadership role within a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities

  • Manage sophisticated commercial litigation matters through all phases of the litigation life cycle.
  • Develop case strategy, assess risk, and advise clients on litigation objectives and outcomes.
  • Serve as lead trial counsel in court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and evidentiary hearings.
  • Draft and oversee pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive filings.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, including fact and expert witness examinations.
  • Present oral arguments on significant motions and other contested issues.
  • Act as the primary client contact and provide strategic guidance throughout the course of representation.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and support the development of litigation team members.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of commercial litigation experience within a law firm environment.
  • Significant courtroom experience, including first-chair trial experience.
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation matters and lead case teams.
  • Strong advocacy, legal writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar required.
  • Additional admission in Washington, D.C. and/or Virginia is a plus.
